Northwest Chamber of Commerce
A few years ago in October of 2012 I walked into a room. It was the back lunch room of Sydbergs for something called the YPD with the Northwest chamber. Shy at the time,( I know right, lol) and intimidated at the time I had no idea how this would go or even what to say. I didn’t even know anyone. You see I had been in sales for years and was always good at it. That said I’d never really networked. On the outside looking in it seems the two would go hand in hand and it would be basically the same thing. Boy was I wrong. From the moment I did my first uncomfortable introduction, with a racing heartbeat and the oh please God don’t sound like a bumbling idiot thoughts running through my brain, I had no idea what I had gotten myself into. Uncomfortable and unfamiliar with this new type of deal I stuck with it. I wish I could say it was because of me being stubborn (one of my fine attributes!) or being persistent, but that would all be lie. What got me to come back was the people. Not the experience, but in fact the people. The ambassadors and the people were all very inviting. From Sarah Wells to Karen Wahl, to Melanie Wiggington, Jordan Lindsey, and even the head honcho himself Brian Goldman. These people opened there arms, and took me by the hand and seemed to reflect a genuine interest into helping me grow myself and my business. I am a long winded, over bearing, and a certified nut job, but they all took the time to advise and point me in the direction of success. Even when I was at my low point a year ago, Jess, Tina, Sara, Brian, and more rallied behind me. They listened to me and they helped me. Under their guidance, and witnessing of the people that know how to do this (network) right I am proud to say that I am a successful business owner with a growing business. I’ve even since joined other networking groups, chair a group, and co started another. Members of the chamber have volunteered and donated items to my fundraisers, and have even accounted for over $20,000 for my agency in closed business!
With all of that said I cannot say that this is my success story because it isn’t. My success story is that I am proud to be a part of this community. It is not a chamber, it is a community. If I’m ever in need of a service, a product, a referral, or advice I know I have a community of over 300 strong that I can look to. That to me is a return on investment that cannot be measured by closed business. From the earned business, to the relationships formed and yes even the MVP award (most vulnerable player). I have to say my success story was walking into a back room of Sydebergs restaurant in October of 2012. The rest is history and it will affect my future for years to come. Thanks NW.

Looking for a nice gift for a new, existing or prospective client?
Cindy with Cindy’s Creations will create a beautiful basket for whatever the occasion. I’ve used Cindy several times for gift baskets, but my most favorite are those that she creates when I’m giving to client’s. I provide Cindy with all of the gift items and she creates the basket with an embossed ribbon and delivers it to my office with a quick turnaround. My client’s are always impressed when they see the basket ribbon in their company colors and their name embossed delicately on the ribbon. Cindy also has a nice selection of baskets on her website for gift giving.

When meeting with Halina Conti of Ameriprise Financial last year about the services her company provided, I learned of their competitive rates for Auto & Home insurance. After checking into it further, Ameriprse was able to offer an annual savings of $550. I gladly switched.
T&L Tree Service was the best resource and solution for me when it came to my mulching needs for my yard. After talking with Melanie about the bags of mulch I load and unload each season (ugh), it was apparent that I should buy in bulk from them. The cost savings and the fact that they delivered it to me, (30 miles south) was so wonderful. No more bags of mulch for me.
Additionally, I used T&L Tree Service as a resource for an Earth Day Sales campaign for Kelly Services. We purchased 100 dogwood saplings to be handed out. Melanie delivered them to my office and wrapped them nicely to survive for a few days.
As a customer, I will always recommend T&L Tree Service, as they continue to provide exceptional prices and service.
My husband has been wanting to get rid of a large old tree in our backyard for a long time. A few weeks ago, we saw that a neighbor was having tree work done so my husband struck up a conversation with the contractor. My husband reported back to me that the contractor seemed like a nice guy, so he got a price and scheduled the contractor to cut down our old tree the following morning. I looked at the contractor’s business card and decided to check with the Better Business Bureau. The contractor had an “F” rating with the BBB. My husband called and cancelled the contractor’s visit. I had remembered meeting Tim Beauchamp with T & L Tree Service at a Chamber luncheon so I told my husband I’d get an estimate from Tim. Tim’s company has an A+ rating with the BBB, according to the BBB’s website. Tim gave us a written estimate, which was about 15% less than the F-rated guy. A few days later, Tim and his crew did a very professional, thorough job removing our old tree. Our neighbor commented on how quickly Tim’s employees cleaned up the debris. Lesson learned: Call Chamber members first when you want the job done right!

What has the Chamber done for me? More than I could ever hope to return. Financially, socially and emotionally my Chamber has delivered in spades. NW Chamber has done fore me than I ever envisioned. Most important NW Chamber has given me the opportunity to help in the community for those less fortunate than I.
